Do not book the shortlist until it survives arrival
Skift reported on 7 August 2026 that Google’s Ask Maps is bringing agentic AI into hotel search, including price and availability queries. The traveller benefit is obvious: less time opening tabs. The risk is quieter: a hotel can win the search result and still lose the first day.
For a family arriving tired, the useful question is not “Which hotel looks best?” It is “Can this base absorb the arrival?” Run the shortlist through four checks before you commit.
1. Can you get from the airport to the room without a fragile chain?
Write the arrival as a sequence: landing, baggage, border control, transfer, check-in, and the first food stop. If one unknown breaks the chain, keep a simpler alternative. 2. Does the neighbourhood support a low-effort first meal?

4. Can the plan bend without wasting the booking?
