Gold Coast · 5-day family itinerary with a light-rail base
One Gold Coast base, a G:link-led middle, one theme-park anchor, and a protected airport finish.
Make the trade-offs visible
Translink's journey-planning guidance is the transport source for this draft. This is not live booking confirmation: recheck services, operator calendars, weather, accessibility and terms.
Traveller control: Alfred turns PAX and constraints into an editable route; providers confirm live availability and terms.
Five-day sample plan
Day 1 — Arrival and Surfers Paradise reset
Arrive via Gold Coast Airport and transfer to a Surfers Paradise base. Keep the first evening to Cavill Avenue and the beach esplanade only if energy allows; otherwise eat near the hotel. Confirm the airport-to-hotel connection and luggage plan before departure.
Day 2 — Beach and Broadbeach cluster
Use the G:link corridor for Surfers Paradise, Kurrawa Beach and Broadbeach. Keep one beach block as the anchor, then use Pacific Fair for an air-conditioned meal or reset. If wind, heat or fatigue rises, remove the second beach stop rather than adding a cross-coast transfer.
Day 3 — Theme-park day with one operator anchor
Choose one of Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World or Dreamworld, and check the operator calendar, tickets, height limits and transport timing before booking. Treat the second park as an alternative, not an add-on. Return to the same base rather than changing hotels.
Day 4 — Hinterland alternative or Burleigh cluster
For a lower-transfer day, choose Burleigh Heads and Tallebudgera Creek with a weather and energy check. For a hinterland option, confirm the current bus, tour or car requirements before committing to Springbrook National Park. Do not promise a walk without checking conditions and family suitability.
Day 5 — Departure buffer to Gold Coast Airport
Keep the final morning light and protect the airport transfer. Confirm flight terminal, pickup time, luggage, current Translink service status and any operator changes. If the flight is late, use a nearby café or pool only when the airport buffer remains intact.
Planning notes and alternatives
What should families confirm?
Confirm Gold Coast Airport transfer, Translink service status, theme-park opening times and ticket rules, beach or hinterland conditions, accommodation suitability, and the departure-day airport buffer.
What is the first thing to remove?
Remove the second major attraction or a long cross-coast move before removing lunch, rest, or the airport buffer. Sea World, Movie World, Dreamworld, Burleigh and Springbrook are alternatives, not a promise to do them all.
