Day-by-day plan

Day 1 — Arrive in Nagoya and settle before sightseeing

01
Plan and decision

Arrival transfer and check-in are the only fixed commitments. Allow 60–90 minutes for the airport or station connection, luggage and room access, then choose a nearby meal. If arrival is late, drop the optional evening walk rather than disturbing Day 2.

Live check: Confirm airport/station transfer, hotel access, room fit and late-arrival instructions.

Day 2 — Nagoya city cluster: one anchor and an easy return

02
Plan and decision

08:30–12:00: choose one central anchor such as Nagoya Castle or the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park after checking the day’s opening pattern. 12:00–13:00: lunch near the anchor. Afternoon: return toward the base for food and recovery; do not cross the city for a second major district.

Live check: Check the selected anchor’s opening day, timed entry, walking load and simplest return route.

Day 3 — Protected Nagoya to Takayama transfer

03
Plan and decision

Morning: take the confirmed rail or road connection to Takayama as the day’s main movement. Allow time for luggage and station changes rather than adding a fixed morning attraction. Late afternoon: orient around Sanmachi Suji only if check-in and energy allow.

Live check: Recheck the Hida connection, seat or bus reservation, luggage limits, disruption policy and road conditions.

Day 4 — Takayama market, craft and old-town rhythm

04
Plan and decision

08:00–10:00: browse Miyagawa Morning Market, then walk Sanmachi Suji while the route is compact. 10:30–12:00: choose Takayama Jinya or a local craft stop. Lunch near the old town; keep the afternoon to one museum or café and finish locally.

Live check: Confirm market hours, Takayama Jinya opening, walking surfaces, weather and a nearby indoor alternative.

Day 5 — Shirakawa-go decision day

05
Plan and decision

Morning: take the Shirakawa-go bus only if the live timetable, reservation, road conditions and weather work for the group. Treat the village as a 3–4 hour excursion, not an add-on to another regional move. Fallback: stay in Takayama for Hida Folk Village, craft shops and a slower food day.

Live check: Confirm bus availability, cancellation terms, road status, walking conditions and the Takayama fallback.

Day 6 — Takayama departure buffer

06
Plan and decision

Keep 07:30–09:00 for packing, breakfast and the confirmed connection. Add a short old-town coffee or souvenir stop only if departure timing leaves a real margin; otherwise make the day transfer-only.

Live check: Confirm the onward connection, station access, luggage plan, transfer margin and departure-day conditions.
